Myra Roxanna Gould, 93 years of age, of Gables Lodge, Amherst and formerly of Brookdale passed away on December 28th, 2014. She was the daughter of the late William and Laura Gould.

Myra was a member of the Holy Family Parish. She loved to get together with special family members for card games and always loved her lobster sandwiches. She spent lots of hours in her flower garden and with her special dog "Mickey." Myra worked for several years at Sifto Salt until her retirement. Being the only girl in her family, she spent a lot of her younger years playing hockey and baseball. She is better remembered for her softball career. She was an outstanding member of the Amherst Red Wings from 1945-1967. In 1945 she was instrumental in winning the Amherst Championship in a series with Stella Marie where she had 6 hits and 4 runs. In 1976 Myra joined the St. John Ambulance to stay involved in sports. In 1980 she went to Ottawa to receive an award of the rank of Serving Sister in the Order of St. John Ambulance for her volunteer efforts.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Myra was predeceased by her brothers; Harold, Ivan, Layton, Delmar, Johnny, and Vaughn. Myra has several nieces and nephews who were a special part of her life.

Her remains are resting at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home in Amherst, NS, where a visitation will take place on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, December 31st at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow.
