Josephine "Josie" King, 82 years of age, of
Amherst, formerly of Springhill & Spryfield, passed away at
the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, September 27,
2012. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Joseph &
Sadie (Walmbolt) Oakley.
Josie worked in dry
cleaning for over 30 years. Never wanting to be a burden on others
Josie always put others first. She loved her family and did everything
she could to provide for them. She enjoyed going out and being with
her family and especially her daily visits and treats from her
children. Josie was a devout Catholic and took much comfort from her
faith. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Amherst and Saint
John the Baptist, Springhill and a member of the C.W.L.
Josie will be sadly missed by her daughters; Sally
King ( Mark Whidden) of West Amherst, June King,
Head of Chezzetcook; sons, Craig of Springhill, Vernon (Jackie) of
Bracebridge, ON, Frank of St. John's, NFLD, Gary of Alberta; eight
grandchildren; three great granchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Embert
"Curly" King, sisters, Lillian, Dorothy; brothers, Harry
& Tommy.
Cremation has taken place under the
direction of Furlong- Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Amherst, NS
(667-8777) . Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4,
2012 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Holy
Family Parish on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the
Holy Family Parish or to the charity of choice.
