It is with great sadness that we announce the death of
Mildred Elizabeth(Langille) Clarke at the Cumberland Regional Health
Care Centre on December 29, 2011 at the age of 91.
Mildred grew up in Leicester, N.S. the daughter of the late Cecil
and Myrtle(Purdy) Langille.
Mildred was
employed for many years as Medical Records Librarian at the Highland
View Regional Hospital prior to retirement. After retirement
she moved with her husband, Gerald Clarke to St. Stephen, N.B. where
they lived for 30 years. They returned to Amherst in
2004.
Mildred was a strong, intelligent and
independent woman, who used those assets to better her community and
her churches Milltown United and Trinity St. Stephen's United Church ,
Amherst. Her favorite times were those spent
playing bridge with her many friends, especially Rena Thomas and time
spent with her good friend Jeanette Clark. She was a
wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, and will
be deeply missed by all.
Mildred was
predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Gerald Clarke on December 6,
2011, and her brother Arthur Langille. Mildred is
survived by her children Donald (Nancy) of Dartmouth, N.S.
and grandchildren Peter and Paul; daughter Marilyn (Louis Bernardini)
of Calais, Maine and grandchildren Chris, Meredith and Tony;
daughter, Elaine Holland of Calais, Maine and grandchildren Jennifer
and Michael; son Grant (Brenda) of Amherst, N.S. and grandchildren
Emilee, Lisa and Matthew, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is
also survived by her two sisters Patricia Skinner of Amherst
and Joan(Phil) MacDonald of Truro.
The family
would like to thank all of the caregivers at Gables Nursing Home and
the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their kindness and
care.
Mildred has been cremated under the care
and direction of the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St.,
Amherst (902-667-8777). A combined memorial service for
Mildred and her husband Gerry will be held at the Furlong~Jones
Funeral Home, Amherst on August 18, 2012 at 1 pm, Rev. Karen Toole
officiating. Following a reception in the Funeral Home
Reception Centre, a graveside committal will take place in the Amehrst
Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your
choice.
