It is with heavy hearts the family of
Ronald William Gilroy announce his
passing on June 18, 2026 in the CRHCC Amherst at the age of
85. He was known to faithfully check the obituaries daily, and not
finding his name there, said he could continue on with his day. Well
this is the day he finds his name and can rest in
peace.
Known for his big heart, he loved
nothing more than to have a good laugh, a joke and to tease and help
his family, friends and neighbours. His favourite hobby was
socializing and catching up and checking in on all those he cared for.
The children are very thankful to have grown up in a home with an open
door policy where their friends were welcomed as
family.
Born in Amherst, N.S., the family moved
to Moncton, N.B. in 1970, and then to Riverview in 1975. Ron was a
very hard working professional truck driver, spending most of his
career delivering cars throughout the Maritimes, where he loved to
meet and greet those he knew. Ron retired in 2002 when he and Margaret
returned to Amherst to live with and support his father,
Bill.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years,
Margaret Troop Gilroy, his children William (Kathy), Kamloops, B.C.,
Ronald (Deborah), Malagash, N.S., and Angela Morrison (Robert),
Kentville, N.S., as well as his grandchildren Michelle Langille (Andre
Legere), Lisa Gilroy (Carlos), Deanna Gilroy, Christine Gilroy (Ron
Bourque), Reid Morrison (Addi Mosiondz), Erin Gilroy, Liam Gilroy, and
great grandchildren Gavin Legere and Leo Gilroy. Also by special
friend Carol Copp, sister-in-law Lonie Gilroy, and many special nieces
and nephews.
He was predeceased by by his parents
William and Pauline (Stiles) Gilroy, his sister Connie (Tom)
O’Rourke Lupton, and his brother Mel Gilroy.
Special thanks to Dr. Julio Bobadilla
for his care and humour, to the staff at the CRHCC for their care
