It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Agnes Gould, age 86, of Amherst, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at her residence. 

Born in Amherst, NS, Marlene was a daughter of the late James and Nellie (Gouchie) Shannon.

As a young lady she worked at the Metropolitan and R. Benjamin.  Once she began her family, she  dedicated her life to her husband and their seven children.  She was a member of the Holy Family Parish.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Judy Gould (Harry Lucci), Amherst, Barbara (Rob) Hansen, Langley, BC, Rosemarie Gould (Andy Kierstead), Amherst, Janice Gould, Amherst, Vaughn Jr. Gould, Amherst and Michael Gould, Brookdale; grandchildren, Melissa, Robert, Sarah, Lisa, Jennifer, Samantha, Lucas, Logan, Leeam and Laiden, and by great grandchildren, Keegan, Brayden, Royal, Jackson, Vicxyn, Lennon, Jameson, Ryland, Zane, Aurora, Gracelyn and Willow; sister Joyce Everill, Amherst; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She will be fondly remembered by her special friend Marjorie Kierstead.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Vaughn "Sonny" Gould, daughter Freda (Wendell) Sears; grandson Bradley Parker; brother Lawrence (Doris) Shannon and brother in law Bob Everill.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777), where cremation has taken place. Marlene's funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 11 am at Holy Family Church, Amherst. Burial of Marlene next to her husband Sonny, will take place on Wednesday, July 8th at 11:00am in the Christ Church cemetery, Amherst with Deacon Howard Gotell presiding. All are welcome to attend.
