It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Elsie Jackson, age 66 , of Amherst, NS.  With her loving family by her side, Carol passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, NS. 

Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of Jeanette (Ackles) Jackson of Amherst and the late John Jackson.

Carol was a dedicated, experienced, compassionate nursing professional for over 45 years. She started her career at the Aberdeen School of Nursing then went on to various positions. She worked at the Victoria General, the IWK, Cloverdale Infusion Clinics and most recently with Public Health.

Carol loved animals, especially cats. She rescued three strays, Jack, Joey and Fluffy, and brought them into her comfortable loving home. She loved gardening, going to the beach, traveling, crafts, quilting, baking and was quite handy with most power tools. She also loved sports, especially hockey and baseball. She rarely missed watching the Toronto Blue Jays play.

Besides her mother, Carol will be deeply missed by her sibilings; Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman, Northport, Teri (Rick) Porter, Fort Lawrence, NS, Betty Jackson, Belmont, NS, Grace (Sid) Archer Bedford, Holly (Dan) Rector Oxford Junction, Pearl Jackson, Amherst, Laurie (Garry) Payne, Oxford, Robbie (Connie) Jackson, Hastings, and Jim (Darlene) Jackson, Dartmouth; sister in law Belinda Jackson; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her son Sean Delaney; siblings Norma (Gary) Gordon and Brian Jackson; nephew Jesse Payne.

Carol’s family would like to thank the staff at the 6A Centennial, QEII in Halifax and the staff at the Amherst Cumberland Regional Hospital. Thanks so much to the Palliative Care staff, the doctors, RN’s, LPN’s and CCA’s for your compassion and excellent care. 

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).  Cremation has taken place.  An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Jones Family Funeral Centre.

Donations in memory of Carol may be made to the LA Animal Shelter, The Marilyn Williams Spay and Neuter program or the charity of your choice.
