It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Louise Atwell at age 86 on March 30 2024 with family by her side.

Mary was born in Windsor N.S, daughter of the late Willard and Evelyn (Harper) Duncan. 

Mary had been an active member in the UCW Trinity St. Stephen Church. She was a kind compassionate woman with a great sense of humor. She loved getting teased by her grandchildren and took enormous pride in each and everyone of them. 

Mary was a treasured mother, grandmother and great grandmother (G.G).  She will be sadly missed by her daughters Loretta (Terry) Lewis of Amherst and Wanda (Randy) Atwell of Grande Cache, her son Greg (Andrea) Atwell of Amherst and her 8 grandchildren, Brittney, Morgan, Danielle, Paige, Glen, Jeffrey, Brendan and Jordan as well as her 4 great grandchildren. 

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, sister Lois Mumford and Brother Sidney Duncan. 

The family would like to thank Dr. McCrossin and Dr. Bowen as well as the VON for their attention and care. It enabled the family to keep Mary in her home as she wanted. Also thank you to the family and friends who supported us with kind words, stories, hugs and food during this difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten. 

Arrangements are in care of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street Amherst N.S (902) 667-8777. 

There will be no visitation or funeral service at Mary’s request. The family will celebrate Mary’s life at a later time in Windsor N.S where she will rest with her husband and parents.
