It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Susan Beryl Hoeg, age 70, of Amherst, NS. Susan passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with members of her loving family by her side.

Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Areatha (Elliott) Hoeg.

In January, 1973, Susan began her 30+ year career at CIBC, Amherst, where she started as a bank teller before becoming a loans officer. She loved the personal interactions with her many clients and cherished the friendships that developed with her coworkers. When Susan retired, she enjoyed cleaning homes with her Norwex products and bookkeeping for Bickerton’s Plumbing & Heating.

Susan enjoyed playing softball with the Streakers in her younger years and curling was a passion throughout her life. She loved spoiling her many nieces and nephews (especially the littles), photography (always behind the camera at family events), beachcombing, spending time with family at Amherst Shore, and socializing with her many friends. She volunteered at the Bridge Workshop and as a coach with the Special Olympics.

Susan will be dearly missed by her brothers: Eric (Deborah) Hoeg, Bob (Heather) Hoeg and Ron (Betty Anne) Hoeg, sister Cathy Collins, and brother in law Roger Strang and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.  Holding a special place in her heart is her ex-husband, Larry Scopie.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Earl, sister Sandra, brother in law Carson, nephews Stuart and Steven, and niece Stacey.

Susan greatly appreciated all of the love and caring support that she received from her  family members & special friends during her short illness allowing her to spend her final weeks at home. She wanted to give a special thank you to nieces, Tammy Bickerton and Jaime Hoeg for their efforts to coordinate that time at home. She also appreciated the care she received from the VON and Palliative Care teams.

Arrangements are in care of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where a Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 from 1PM to 4PM.

Donations in memory of Susan can be made to the Special Olympics Amherst Chapter, Autism Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
