It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of Gerald Johnson Carter, age 84,
of Amherst, NS. Gerald passed away on Thursday, November 30,
2023 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Gerald was born in Leicester, NS, and
was a son of the late Harry and Laura (Bowser)
Carter.
A Millwright with Robb Engineering,
Gerald was a former member of the 4122 United Steel Workers.
He was a Belgian Horse enthusiast, hobby farmer and local egg man.
Gerald enjoyed attending exhibitions to show horses with his wife,
Betty, in addition to plow competitons and tug-of-war in his younger
years. He was a Toronto Blue Jays fan, an avid square
dancer, as well as a dedicated and hard working family
man.
Gerald is survived by his daughters,
Laura (Stewart) Dunnington of Dartmouth, Kathy (Richard) Craib of
Brookdale, Sheri Carter of Grand Prairie, Alberta; his son, Mike
(Linda) Carter of Amherst; his sisters Marilyn (Howard) Bacon of
Leicester and Sandra Blenkhorn of Amherst; his brother Roland of
Amherst; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a
sister-in-law, June Carter, and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his wife Betty; his sister Pauline Griffiths; his
brothers Leslie, Vernon, and Harold; his brother-in-law, Bob Blenkhorn
and his sisters-in-law, Judy, Teresa, and Earleen
Carter.
The family wishes to extend their
deepest gratitude to the staff at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre for their compassion and care for dad during his
stay.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777)
where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at
11 am.

may be made to the Leicester Cemetery or a charity of the donor's
choice.
