It is with profound sadness that we
announce the passing of Hestel Mary
Quinn, age 93 of Amherst, formerly of River Hebert.
Hestel passed away peacefully at Gables Lodge on Friday, November 17,
2023.
Born in Lower Maccan, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Ezekiel and Mary (Wood) O'Brien.
Hestel always placed her family first
and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved
children and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
She was active in the River Hebert Anglican Church and in her younger
years loved to go to Bingo.
Hestel is survived by her sons, James
(Wilma) Lr. Maccan, Steven (Linda), River Hebert East, Wade (Dayle),
River Hebert and Tony (Monique), Lr. Maccan; and grandchildren, Steven
(Twilla), Tina (Tyler), Melissa (Andrew), Michael (Carla), and David
(Emily); great grandchildren, Payton, Ryker, and Quinn; special niece,
raised as a sister Inez Speare, River Hebert.
She was predeceased by her husband Jim;
brothers James "Duke", Henry, Fred, Harris, Ezekiel, and
Ernest, and sisters Eunice Saunders, Ola Wilson, Effie
"Tiny" Proctor and Layal Legere.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777)
where visiting hours will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023 from
1 pm until the time of the funeral service. The funeral
service will follow immediately at 2 pm, William Drysdale, DLM,
officiating. Burial of Hestel and Jim will take place in the
Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert.
