It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael Nelson Burns, born March 24th 1947 in Toronto, Ontario.

Michael passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his home surrounded by family as per his wishes.

Michael grew up in a small town of Wasaga Beach, Ontario. He later moved to Alberta where he began his career as a Correctional Officer. He spent many years as a Correctional Officer in Peace River, Alberta, then eventually transferred to Saint John, NB. After his career in the correctional system, he moved to NS and went into long haul transport driving. Shortly after moving to Nova Scotia, he found his new love. They enjoyed 24 beautiful years together.

With Bonnie by his side, they traveled everywhere together. He often spoke about all the fun the two of them had going to different places across North America.

They eventually settled down to retire in Amherst, NS, where they got to watch their families grow. Family meant eveyrthing to Michael. Michael enjoyed spending time visiting his brother Robin, playing cards with family and playing a few rounds of golf. He loved spending time with his family.

Michael leaves behind his loving wife Bonnie (Greeno), his 4 daughters Kimberly (Bruce) Harrison, of Gatineau, Quebec, Teresa (Peter) Brown of Athol, NS, Christine Burns of St. Jacobs, Ontario and Lynda Harrison of Amherst, NS. Michael led a full life, he had 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

His extended family gave him 2 more children, Christopher MacKenzie and Laura (Mike) Dickie and 5 more beautiful grandchildren, all of whom he loved fiercely.

Always loved and will be dearly missed ... Love you more.
