Janis Lynne (nee Taylor) Burke of Fox Harbour, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully at Cumberland Hospital on October 13th, 2023 with her twin sister Joyce holding her hand.

Janis entered the world on Nov 6th, 1947 and grew up in Dartmouth. During her school years, she was always busy and was involved in several sports. Later she enjoyed her years as an active member of the police wives club of the Dartmouth Police Force.

She met and married the love of her life, Gerard, and they spent many happy years in Fox Harbour working side by side, cutting and splitting wood, renovating their house, working in the garden, and enjoying their horses. She was also known by many through their affiliation with the Pugwash Curling Club. 

She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Gerard Burke. She also leaves behind her sister Joyce and many friends and family.

Janis will be remembered as a vibrant, fun-loving woman who always had a cheerful, heartfelt greeting and a smile for all and who could entertain a room with her stories.

Arrangements are the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777).  Honouring her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Services in memory of Janis will take place on November 25th, at St. Andrews United Church, Fox Harbour, Nova Scotia at 1pm.

Donations in memory of Janis may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
