It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Robert Valerie "Val" LeBlanc, age 90, of Amherst.  Val passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Reid and Ella Mae (Terrio) LeBlanc.

Val was a hard working man, who put 100% of himself into any job he took on.  He loved bluegrass music, walking, and was a self appointed Neighbourhood Watch.  He was a volunteer Fireman in Amherst for 25 years.  He loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Val will be sadly missed by his daughters, Karen LeBlanc (Chris MacDonald),  and Maria Hicks (Reg McGrath), both of Amherst; special son, Joey (Meagen Bowers), Amherst; son in law Eric Richard, Amherst; grandchildren, Samantha MacDonald, Rachel MacDonald, Cody Hicks, Seth Richard, Duran Beckstead, Amy MacDonald and Marshall MacDonald; great grandchildren, Blake, Emma, Elijah, Blair, Demarco, Meghan, and Mya.

He was predeceased by his wife June and daughter Nadine Richard; sisters Dorothy Lawless and Lorraine Hashey.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the Holy Family Parish, Amherst, on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 11 am.  All are invited to a time of reception in the church hall following the funeral mass. Burial will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery following the reception.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Maggies Place, The Cumberland Cancer Care Society, or the MS Society.
