Patricia Ann
Miller, aged 84, passed away peacefully at her home in
Amherst, Nova Scotia on Saturday, May 13, 2023, due to natural
causes.
Affectionately known as Pat to her
friends and family, she was born on February 2, 1939, to the late
Alexander and Mary (MacKenzie) Miller.
Patricia graduated from Mount Allison
University in the Class of 1958, at the young age of 19, ready to
embark on her lifelong passion for teaching children. She dedicated 36
years of her career to Quispamsis Elementary in New Brunswick, where
she primarily taught Grade 2 students until her retirement in 1994.
Pat cherished each of her hundreds of students and spoke of them
fondly. She maintained connections with many of them, and to this day,
she is remembered fondly by them as 'Miss Miller'.
Following her retirement, Pat became
involved in Obedience and Conformation competitions with her beloved
Cocker Spaniels. By 2000, she had developed a love of Dog Agility, a
sport that brought her immense joy and introduced her to countless
friends—both human and canine. Any dog who met Pat, loved
her, and the same can be said for their owners. Agility friends across
Canada mourn her passing.
Pat is survived by her sisters, Maureen
Abson of Amherstburg, ON and Gail Johnson of Barrie ON; her brother,
Stanley (Eleanor) of Lower Sackville, NS; and her
sister-in-law, Shirley Miller of Dartmouth, NS, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased
by her beloved brother, Alexander.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
care and supervision of Jones Family Funeral
Centre, located at 70 Church Street, Amherst
(902-667-8777).
As per Pat's wishes, her remains have
been cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at Amherst
Cemetery on a later date.
For those who desire to honor Pat's
memory, donations may be made to YMCA Cumberland, LA Animal Shelter,
or the Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation.
