It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Hedley Pye, 43, of Amherst on Friday, March 3, 2023.
Robert was born in Amherst, a son of Robert Pye and the late Grace (nee O'Blenis) Pye.
Robert loved 4 wheeling and for years one of his past times was buying broken four wheelers and fixing them up. He enjoyed listening to his music, even if it wasn't to everyone's taste, sometimes the same song was on repeat until everyone was sick of it.
Robert's voice carried far. You could walk into a room and knew where he was just by hearing his voice. He loved to talk and laugh, in many ways he wasn't quiet. To people he didn't know, he seemed intimidating and scary, but to those who really knew him he had a heart of gold. Robert was stubborn, straight to the point and a healer. He had a smile that could light up a room.
Robert loved the beach. He was always doing things with his kids and wife. They enjoyed camping, going to the lake, fishing with his boy and of course four wheeling. He was always working with his hands. He was currently working on constructing a log home in Maccan.
He loved his Misty, claimed he did not want any pets or like animals, but they always ended up snuggled together.
His family was his life. Robert would drop everything to help you anytime, all you needed to do was ask. Our family leaned on him, he was a rock that never let us down.
Robert wore many titles; husband, dad, brother, son, friend and soulmate; he married his best friend. He will forever be loved and greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Shannon (nee Hicks), Amherst; his children, Lexi (Riley Richard) LeBlanc, Jacob Mundle, Cape Breton, Charlee Hicks, and Cole Pye, both at home; his father, Robert (Vicki Negus Burden) Pye; his siblings, Janice (Rodney Mills) Coates, Amherst, and Louise (Leon White) Pye, Nappan; his mother and father-in-law, Carlene Hicks, and Albert O'Blenis, Amherst, as well as his sister-in-law, Lacey (Matt) Landry, Amherst,and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother, Robert was predeceased by his infant sister, Bertie-Ann.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777). Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Robert's Life will be held from the funeral home on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2-4 pm.
