It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Leonard Lorraine Lowther, 98, of Amherst formerly  of Tidnish Bridge. Lenny passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Gables Lodge.

Born in Tidnish Cross Roads, NS, he was the son of the late James and Permilla (Thomas) Lowther.

Lenny worked at Jack Ripley’s as a mechanic for many years and later at Premdor He loved to play cards and he and Avis organized card parties at the Tidnish Community Hall  for several years. A quiet gentle soul and natural caregiver Lenny spent a lot of time in his community! He was a jack of all trades and wasted nothing!

Lenny is survived by his son Lyman, granddaughters Sara Jane D’Amours-Lowther (Robert Bursey) and Karyn D'Amours-Lowthers both of Sept-Iles QC; 3 great grandchildren; William Bursey, Jasmine Bursey and Sean Hudon; sister Beatrice Hawkes (Doug) of Amherst Head as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Avis; brothers Robert, Herbert, Major and Lloyd; sisters Dorothy, Arminta and infant sister Vivian.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777). Honouring Leonard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place for both Lenny and his son Lyman on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 2 PM to 6 PM at The Tidnish Pearl, 5 Tidnish Drive. All who knew Lenny and Lyman are welcome!

Donations in memory of Leonard may be made to Resident Council of Gables Lodge and Tidnish Crossroads Community Association.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Centennial Villa and Gables Lodge for their kindness and care over the last few years.
