It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Burton McAloney, age 90, or Amherst, NS on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Born in River Hebert, NS, he was the son of Guy and Myrtle (Smith) McAloney.
Harold spend his working years as an auto mechanic until he retired in 1992. Following his retirement, he spent much of his time working in his garden and doing carpentry. He enjoyed playing pool and shuffleboard and going for coffee with the boys. Harold was a faithful follower of the Amherst Junior Ramblers and attended every game he could.
Harold was a member of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church and a Lifetime member of the Cumberland Y Service Club.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years,
Barbara (Adams) McAloney; son Michael (Karen); daughter Sherry
(Stephen) Ripley; four grandsons, Jonathan (Greg), Thomas (Alyssa),
Justin (Prajwala), Jeffery (Cassie); three great granddaughters Maya,
Rowan, Laurel; sister Edith and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by his sister Grace; brother Howard; sister-in-law Helen; brother William; sister-in-law Norma and brother-in-law Arnold Raymond.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst NS (902-667-8777). Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid Restrictions, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Services will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Harold may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, or the Cumberland Hospice and Palliative Care Society.
