Margaret Elizabeth Burton
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Elizabeth Burton, of Amherst, Nova Scotia, announce her passing on March 25, 2021 at the age of 86.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Sarah (Rose) Burton.
Margie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Springhill on April 26, 1934, and as the last surviving member of her immediate family, was was preceded in death by; her mother, Sarah Maude Rose; her father Donald Alexander Burton; sisters June and Audrey and brothers Donald ("Alex") and Murray.
Margie, ever a hard worker, was employed for many years at the Amherst Hotel until its closing; she then transitioned to Aerovox, where she worked until her retirement. An animal lover, Margie, has many pets over the years and loved each one dearly. She enjoyed going for walks and drives, reading, visiting, and spending time with her good friend, Pearl. Margie was a strong woman who cared deeply for the people closest to her, although she didn't have children of her own; she loved and cherished her nieces and nephews, and often did without in order to provide for them.
We loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed by Barbara, Doris, Debra, Daniel, Bobby, Billy, Joan, Murray, Kathy and Michael as well as several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Burial to take place at a later date.
