It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice Ada Wood, 87, of Amherst.  Bernice passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, February 6, 2021.  Born in Salisbury, NB, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Rose (Gallant) Steeves.

Bernice was a passionate BINGO player and very much enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She loved to go for walks and being outdoors.  She was a caring and devoted person who loved her family dearly.  She was a best friend to her daughters who will miss her dearly.

Bernice was a devoted Baptist and later, Pentecostal.  

Bernice was a proud descendant of the original 7 Steeves Sons of New Brunswick.

She will be sadly missed by daughters, May (Kelvin) Kaye, Amherst, NS, and Joann (Brian) Carter, West Leicester, NS; three grandchildren, Lisa Morgan, Mason Carter and Jessica Carter; great grandchildren, Katie and Justin Morgan; her great great grandson, Drew; her siblings, June (Bruce Langel) Grinham, Shirley (Lloyd) Leadbetter, Doris Dickson, Grace (Gary) Morris, Ernest (Cheryl "Lil" Edmunds) Steeves and Gary (Bev) Steeves, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her son Harold Douglas Wood Jr.; her grandson, Kevin Jason Kaye and her siblings, Ruby (Randy) Randle, Anne (Paul) Steeves, and Wayne Steeves.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11 am.  Pastor Jonathan Cole presiding.  Preregistration for the funeral service is required, please call or Email the funeral home to reserve seating.  Please bring your masks and respect social distancing protocols.
