Inez Aurelia Bertha Copp of Fort Lawrence passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on September 15, 2020, following a courageous battle with cancer.  

Born in Riverside Albert, Albert County, New Brunswick, on October 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Spurgeon and Nettie Crossman.

Inez is is survived by husband Robert, her son, Danny and his wife, Rhonda, granddaughters Heather (Max Pollack) Copp and Trish (Andrew) Duguay, their mother, Betty Daniels, step-granddaughter, Emily Thomas, and great-grandchildren Frida and Hannah Pollack, and Grady and Blake Duguay.  Inez is also survived by her sister, Eileen Alcorn of Hillsborough, NB, and her sister-in-law, Molly Crossman of St John’s NFLD, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Inez was predeceased by her son Stephen Copp, brother, Murray Crossman, grandson, Robbie Copp, niece, Beth Crossman and brothers-in-law, Sydney Alcorn and Murray Justason.

Inez and her husband, Robert, owned and operated the Hampton Diner in Fort Lawrence from 1956 until their retirement in 2003.  Inez’s interests included her family, her church and she loved having morning coffee with the "coffee group" at McDonald’s on Albion St.  Inez and Robert attended First Baptist Church, Amherst and Main St. Baptist Church, Sackville.

Inez was able to remain at home until her passing and her family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr Shen and Lisa, Dr Short and the palliative care nurses, Kim and Amy, the many VON nurses and support care workers who provided such wonderful care.  As well, Inez’s family was so grateful for the services provided by the Special Patient Program and the Amherst Red Cross. 

Inez’s family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Rev. Dr. Dan Green, Rev. Don Miller as well as her many friends and family for their prayers, visits, calls, meals and thoughtful gifts.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm.  Inez's funeral service will take place at First Baptist Church, Amherst, with Rev. Dan Green officiating, on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 2 pm.  Burial will take place at the Fort Lawrence Cemetery immediately following the funeral.  In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required inside both the funeral home and the church.  Please call 902-667-8777 to pre-register if you will be attending the funeral.  Pre-registration is not required for visitation.

Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Amherst, the Red Cross, the VON or charity of your choice, in Inez’s memory.
