Vera Geneva
Witsel, 85, of River Hebert, N.S. passed away at
Cumberland Regional Health Center in Amherst on Tuesday, June 2,
2020.
Born in Lower Cove, N.S. she was the
daughter of the late Harvey and Phoebe (White)
Burbine.
Vera worked at Margolian’s for
many years before enjoying her much deserved retirement. She was a
member of the St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic
Church.
She is survived by four sons: Curtis
(Susan) Witsel of Ardrossan, AB; Anthony (Valerie) Witsel of Fort
McCleod, AB; Ronald (Debbie Stadnyk) Witsel of Edmonton, AB, Chris
(Gina Searle) Witsel of Halifax, N.S.; and 2 daughters: Catherine
(Edward) Brine of Edmonton, AB; Jeannie (Alan Layton) Witsel of
Edmonton, AB.,as well as by sister Elsie (Murray McLellan) Venus of
Amherst, brother Ronald (Fern) Burbine of River Hebert, and brother
Gary (Ann) Burbine of Springhill. She
has several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased
by her husband Arthur Witsel, daughter Debbie Hicks, son Joseph Witsel
(in infancy) and sister Freda Patterson.
Her family would like to express their
sincere appreciation to Vera's granddaughter, Tanya, for her bedside
devotion, and to the staff of the CRHC palliative care unit for their
professionalism and understanding.
Arrangements have been entrusted into
the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS
(902-667-8777). Public visitation will be held on
Tuesday, July 21, from 6 to 8 pm at the Jones Family Funeral Centre,
Amherst. All are asked to attend and show your support for
Vera's Family who has had to postpone her remembrance until this
time. We will be abiding by Covid-19 restrictions, including
Social Distancing, and wearing a mask is recommended. Vera's
funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11
am. Following her funeral, she will be laid to rest beside
her husband Arthur in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie,
NS.
