It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Roy Mayne, 89, announce his passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.  Born in Halifax, Don was the son of the late Hilbert and June (Allen) Mayne of Port Philip, NS.

Prior to an early retirement from Windsor Salt, Pugwash, he was employed in lumbering, millwork and with CNR for ten years as a tie and timber inspector and brakeman.

Don was an avid gardener, fisherman and enjoyed the game of golf. He was passionate about woodworking creating many keepsakes that generations of his family will treasure. A kind and caring man, Don touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of seventy years, Evelyn (nee Moore), Amherst; daughters, Debra (Selvon) Singh, Guelph, ON, and Patricia Colson, Amherst; grandchildren, Daniel (Haidee) Singh, Georgetown, ON, Joshua Singh, Guelph, ON, Matthew (Megan) Colson, Amherst, and Jeremy Colson, Amherst; great grandchildren, Julian, Darian, and Preston Stiles, of Fergus, ON, Noelle and Warren Singh, of Georgetown, ON, and Abel Colson, of Amherst, as well as a grandson-in-law, Randy Stiles, of Fergus, ON and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by a beloved granddaughter, Amy Singh-Stiles in 2017.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777).  Honouring the wishes of the family, there will be no visitation or services.  Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Don may be made to the VON or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
