Lionel A. Edwards, 94 years of age, of Joggins, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Burke) Edwards.

Lionel worked as a coal miner until his retirement in 1984.  He worked at General Eastern Home for many years.  He was an adherent of the United Church of Canada.  He loved bluegrass music and always had a witty story to share.  He was a master at puzzles and was always tinkering with new "inventions".

He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Wood of Langley, BC, nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, the former D. "Donnie" Edith Smith, sisters: Emma Edwards, Elsie Griffin, Rosa Passman, Doris Burns, Lois Nagy, Mamie Greer, Kay McCarthy, and Elaine Davis.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).  No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at the River Hebert Cemetery on  Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11:30 am.
