After a brief illness, Marilyn Kay Welton, 73, of Advocate, NS, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on  Monday July 1, 2019.

Marilyn moved to Canada from New Zealand in 1967, having lived in Hamilton, ON, before settling in Nova Scotia.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time on the beach in the sunshine with a good glass of wine.  She loved to laugh and enjoyed a good time.  She returned to school at the age of fifty-two, to become an LPN and worked with the QEII Satellite Dialysis Clinic in Springhill.  Most recently she has enjoyed and been involved in the crafting community, including having been a rug hooker, a knitter and a moccasin maker, and made many good friends.

She will be sadly missed by, her spouse of over twenty years, Brent Macaloney, Advocate; three children, Jean-Marie (Matthew) Cormier, Fenwick, Steven (Diana) Walker, Amherst, and Alicia Welton, Manning, AB; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister Janice (Ian) Rodgers, New Zealand, with whom she shared a special bond, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by a granddaughter, Molly, and a brother Ian.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where an afternoon of visitation and remembrance will be held from 2-4 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019.  All are welcome to attend.

Donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
