It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy"
Lennox, age 89, of Amherst, formerly of River
Hebert. Peggy passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in River Hebert, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Adam and Helen (O'Rourke)
Stevenson.
Peggy graduated from the River Hebert
School with her Grade 11 Diploma. Her first job was at the
River Hebert Post Office, then moving to Moncton and working for the
T. Eaton Company. She left the T. Eaton Company temporarily,
to receive her diploma from St. Charles Commercial. She
later moved to Niagara Falls, working for a few companies over the
next 10 years, returning to River Hebert, Nova Scotia, and marrying
her husband Eben on August 23, 1971. She went back to work at the
River Hebert Post Office, then finally was secretary for the Guidance
Counsellor of the River Hebert High School. She was a
devoted wife to Eben, and a caregiver to her bed-ridden mother for 15
years and her father for 25 years, all while continuing work at the
River Hebert High School. She was a faithful member of
Trinity United Church in River Hebert, where she was the treasurer for
25 years. She and another lady were leaders of the Explorers
and assisted with Sunday School.
She is survived by her husband, Eben
Lennox, Amherst; sister, Bonnie (Howard) Fullerton of Scarborough, ON;
sister in law Annie (Bradley) Ripley, Moncton; niece Nancy (Gregory)
Shaigic, nephews Howard (Cynthia) Fullerton and Randall (Kim)
Fullerton.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS, where visiting
hours will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from noon
until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm with her funeral service,
Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating. Following a reception at
the Jones Family Reception Centre, Peggy will be buried in the River
Hebert Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Peggy may be made
to the Arthritis Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the
charity of your choice.
