It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Lennox, age 89, of Amherst, formerly of River Hebert.  Peggy passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in River Hebert, NS, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Helen (O'Rourke) Stevenson.

Peggy graduated from the River Hebert School with her Grade 11 Diploma.  Her first job was at the River Hebert Post Office, then moving to Moncton and working for the T. Eaton Company.  She left the T. Eaton Company temporarily, to receive her diploma from St. Charles Commercial.  She later moved to Niagara Falls, working for a few companies over the next 10 years, returning to River Hebert, Nova Scotia, and marrying her husband Eben on August 23, 1971. She went back to work at the River Hebert Post Office, then finally was secretary for the Guidance Counsellor of the River Hebert High School.  She was a devoted wife to Eben, and a caregiver to her bed-ridden mother for 15 years and her father for 25 years, all while continuing work at the River Hebert High School.  She was a faithful member of Trinity United Church in River Hebert, where she was the treasurer for 25 years.  She and another lady were leaders of the Explorers and assisted with Sunday School.

She is survived by her husband, Eben Lennox, Amherst; sister, Bonnie (Howard) Fullerton of Scarborough, ON; sister in law Annie (Bradley) Ripley, Moncton; niece Nancy (Gregory) Shaigic, nephews Howard (Cynthia) Fullerton and Randall (Kim) Fullerton.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS, where visiting hours will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from noon until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm with her funeral service, Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating.  Following a reception at the Jones Family Reception Centre, Peggy will be buried in the River Hebert Cemetery.
