It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Theresa Smith, age 97, of South Athol, NS.  Evelyn passed away at Northumberland Hall in Amherst on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

Born in Brookdale, NS, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Perry) Ripley.

Evelyn loved life.  She loved the outdoors, fishing, and spending time in the garden.  She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time motor-biking.  Evelyn always liked to spend time with family and friends, especially over a good hand of cards.

She will dearly missed by her children Carole (Stan) Nelson, Thornhill, ON, Sharon (Jim) Waite, Amherst, NS, Phillip (Susan), South Athol, NS; Lynn Köppen, (Ken Porter), Halifax, NS, Dawn Marie (Kevin) Urquhart, South Athol, NS, Christopher (Cindy), Prince George, BC; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; half-siblings June, Shirley, and Winston.

She was predeceased by her husband Harvey; son Terry; great granddaughter Alayna.  In addition, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her 7 siblings.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) where her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11 am.  William Drysdale, DLM, officiating.  Interment will be held in the Southampton Cemetery.
